International Shipping Practices with Third-Party Freight Forwarders

At Penry Air, we regularly work with international customers who choose to ship their orders using third-party freight forwarders based in the United States. While this approach allows flexibility for overseas buyers, it also brings up important questions about who is responsible for what. This page explains how international shipping works at Penry Air, where our responsibilities end, and what customers should know when using a freight forwarder.

How It Works

1. U.S. Delivery Only

Penry Air ships orders to the U.S. address you provide — typically your freight forwarder’s warehouse or carrier. Once delivered to that location, the order is considered complete on our end.

2. Risk and Title Transfer

Ownership and risk of loss pass to you as soon as we deliver the product to the freight forwarder. Penry Air is not liable for any loss, damage, or delays once the goods leave our hands.

3. Your Responsibility

You (the customer) are fully responsible for:

  • Selecting and paying your freight forwarder
  • All shipping arrangements beyond the U.S.
  • Compliance with export/import laws
  • Insurance for the international leg of the shipment

Penry Air does not manage freight forwarders, file export paperwork, or coordinate international delivery.

Export Documentation

In most cases, your freight forwarder acts as the exporter of record. Penry Air will supply:

  • A commercial invoice
  • A packing list
  • Basic export details

We will not be listed as the exporter on official export filings.

Important Disclaimers

  • No International Shipping Services: We do not offer international delivery, freight quotes, or customs handling.
  • Returns & Warranties: Returns are only accepted to U.S. addresses with prior approval. International returns are at your cost.
  • Insurance: Penry Air does not provide insurance beyond the U.S. point of delivery. You must arrange coverage.
  • Inspection at Pickup: Your freight forwarder must inspect the goods at pickup. If damage isn’t noted at that time, the goods are considered received in good condition.
  • Indemnification: You agree to hold Penry Air harmless for any claims or legal issues after delivery to your forwarder.

Summary

Penry Air fulfills its delivery responsibility by shipping to your designated freight forwarder in the U.S. From that point forward, all logistics, costs, and legal obligations become your responsibility. We strongly recommend working with a trusted freight forwarder and securing insurance for the international portion of your shipment.

By placing an order and providing a freight forwarder, you agree to these terms.
